A collection of photographic reproductions excised from several unknown publications. Some illustrations are numbered and all contain manuscript notes in an unknown hand describing the scene. Most show lakes and water scenes; three show various waterfowl in detail. One, titled "Water plants (New Brunswick)" has the additional note "Might be useful for jacket design."

American author and humorist E.B. White was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and graduated from Cornell. After graduation he worked on odd jobs and travelled; while working as a copywriter, he submitted some essays to the newly founded New Yorker, which led to his long-term relationship with the magazine.
